Over the course of two weeks, we collected donations through Facebook to support those affected by the recent flooding in North Carolina. We were incredibly fortunate to receive a generous contribution from J. Westley Hurless of Reeder Trausch Marine Indy—an astounding five full skids of bottled water, totaling over 17,000 pounds. I personally made the round-trip delivery in just 18 hours on a Saturday, returning with an empty trailer but a full heart.

Although I arrived about three hours behind schedule due to a blown trailer tire, the warm welcome I received made every mile worth it. The unloading crew wouldn’t let me lift a finger—they insisted I head straight to the kitchen, where they served up some classic North Carolina homemade pulled pork with all the fixings. It was already dark, and these folks had been there all day, yet the air was filled with laughter and words of encouragement as they unloaded the supplies. Their spirit was incredible, and I’m truly grateful to have played a small part in supporting such a resilient and thankful community.
